Paul and I are going to be leaving in a few hours to shoot a destination wedding, but I couldn’t help but edit just a few shots from the wedding we shot on Saturday.
Dan & Rebecca truly love photography, so we knew they would be up for anything. After capturing a day full of beautiful bright sun, gorgeous surroundings and beautiful landscapes, we wanted to challenge ourselves with something dramatically different. Paul & I have done several projects with light painting, but we never had the chance to do this at a wedding before….
To paint with light, you need a few very specific things – complete darkness (or at least as close as you can get), a flashlight with a snoot (fancy photography word for a tube) and a couple willing to hold so perfectly still they basically have to hold their breath – but as you can see, the results can be breath-taking…

Luckily, the beautiful wine cellar at Knowlton Mansion provided the perfect setting. The light is so soft and subtle, it just bounces off the skin, creating a glow. We love this technique because you can’t tell where the light is coming from, so it makes the subject look like they are lit from within.
Thanks so much to Rebecca & Dan for their patience with this little process of ours, and thank you for letting us explore our creativity! More images to come soon!
XO,
Laura & Paul
Nice photographs! Or a painting perhaps! Whatever it is, it says the real meaning of it, and it’s about two people who are both in love.
